Evangelism story

I heard a great story from my dad this weekend that really made me smile.

My folks had a preacher staying with them in New Zealand a couple of months back.

The preacher was due to fly to Wellington from Tauranga but heavy cloud cancelled the flight. The decision was taken to put a bus on between Tauranga & Hamilton and fly from there (an hour and half drive). It transpired that the driver of the bus was a deacon at my parents church and so dad had told the deacon he would have a good chat about the Lord en route to Hamilton.

Unfortunately, the deacon was slightly deaf and so he said he'd hear nothing from anyone sitting behind him.

En route to Hamilton though the bus had to stop for a short time because of the fog and this gave the deacon and the preacher time to chat. Sitting across from the preacher was a lady who noticed the American accent and asked the preacher what he did and he explained. Between their pit stop and their Hamilton destination, the preacher delivered the Gospel and the lady made a profession of faith right there on the bus.

Praise the Lord! I couldn't help but think that 1 person confessing Christ as their Lord and Saviour makes a trip from the USA to New Zealand (or anywhere for that matter) worthwhile. It should certainly challenge us all to make the most of any opportunities we have to deliver the Gospel as we're asked in Matthew.
